WEDDING WEAR

Does anyone else find it incredibly difficult to get something to wear when you have a wedding? Well, I DREAD it. I think there is such expectation to wear something that is so far removed from your day to day style, that it will never again see the light of day. The expense is more often than not massive and the outfit is usually uncomfortable. I just prefer the idea of wearing something that's a little more "me" and a little less "oh, look, I'm going to a wedding".

I think my own problem is that I tend to always go for something that borders casual and I then wonder do I look underdressed. I mean even my own wedding dress was from French Connection, I'm just not that into being really dressed up and I think that's ok.

The last couple of weddings I had I just wore my black leather jacket over my outfit and I instantly felt like myself.

In July though, my friend MC was getting married in Castlemartyr. With such a fancy venue, I really wanted to make an effort to find something a little different. So I traipsed in and out of town for two solid weeks trying to find something, to no avail.

I had originally bought this outfit for the second day but with no success finding anything for the day itself, I decided to give in and just wear it. I was delighted I did in the end. I felt so comfortable.

Now, I know it's not my everyday attire and it's not something I'm going to wear to Tesco to do my food shop but I will definitely be able to wear all the pieces individually again which is more than I can say for some of my previous wedding purchases.

The top was a knitted vest from Pennys, the skirt from River Island and the shoes from Aldo (which, by the way, are the most comfortable shoes ever!). The bag was H&M and the turquoise ring is my favourite piece of jewellery in the entire world - from MoMuse in Powerscourt!

It has taken me so long to post this, that now everything is sold out (well, except the shoes which are currently half price!) If you are interested I've searched for some similar options that you can shop below - but I say go for what makes you comfortable, it doesn't have to be typical wedding attire. I may even try tailored trousers for the next one! No leg tanning. Amazing.
