MY FAVOURITE FRONT DOORS AND EXTERIORS
I'm back with my yearly post! Woohoo! We are hoping to start work on our house soon, we've had a couple of architects out to have a look and fingers crossed we can get working on it this year. Our budget is teeny - given my penchant for expensive things. So realistically, we will be doing well to get the structural work done, along with plumbing, re-wiring and insulation etc. We will probably have to gradually do the finishing bits over the next couple of years.
I just said I'd pop this little post up because I've been sucked into the black hole that is Pinterest over the last couple of weeks and I thought I'd share with you my ideas/dreams firstly for front doors and exteriors. As my Mam would say "I've little to be at". Anyway, I thought it might be of interest to those who are about to begin this exciting (and excruciating) journey!
I've always wanted the outside of my house to appear warm and cosy and I know it's silly but I think about what it will look like at Christmas etc. I always loved Kate Winslet's house in "The Holiday" and while it's still a bit too country for me, I want to achieve that level of warmth and for it to feel welcoming. Inside I definitely think I'll be going a little more modern. Let me know what you think!

FRONT DOORS
I would just love a double door. I've always had that idea in my head, our budget might say otherwise but a girl can dream! I'd really like one with glass in it too. Although it might make hiding from unwanted visitors a little more difficult. How stunning are these?
PORCH IDEAS
We have a lovely big front garden and the previous owners cared for it so well. It's my favourite part of the house and to be honest it's the reason I fell in love with it. It's becomes so colourful in Spring and it has big mature trees at the gate. It's so lovely to look out at so I think a little porch around the front door with lots of potted plants and a seating area would be so nice. It might not happen straight away but could be something we'll add down the line.

PAINT CHOICES
Well this is where I become totally boring and predictable and say give me all the WHITE. I think a pop of colour or even navy/black on the door could be nice but equally I love soft greys and sage greens. (Obviously I want an obscene amount of hydrangeas everywhere too!)
