FOREVER IN BLUE JEANS, BABE

Money talks
But it don't sing and dance and it don't walk
And long as I can have you here with me
I'd much rather be forever in blue jeans, babe.

SO SORRY!!! Neil Diamond in your head for the day now! The things is, I haven’t been in blue jeans in FOREVER and at the start of the month something monumental happened… I bought my first pair of blue (or black for that matter) jeans in about 4 years. Like most people, my shape has changed after having babies, I felt like it was getting harder and harder to dress myself. I started getting really comfortable in leggings, like, TOO comfortable, I still am. I’m still clinging to long, loose dresses for work and the rare special occasion. The Reg’s most used phrase.. “there’s neither shape nor make to that dress” rings in my ears every time I put one on. Turbo lol. The thing is I’m just constantly trying to hide myself but I’m also so sick of my wardrobe and I really want a change!!!

The only thing is I’m from the generation of skinny jeans and I’m getting it really difficult to make the move into straight leg or anything different which is annoying because I absolutely LOVE them on other people, like it’s totally my style - I just feel strange in them because my legs are SO short and I’ve a fine set of child bearing hips on me so I feel any ones I tried just weren’t flattering on me. Get over yourself, I hear you scream!

Enter the CROPPED FLARE from Zara. I had seen them on a few people on Instagram and liked the look of them. They are the perfect length on me given my short legs. My Mam was with me when I tried them on and she made me buy them. I bought the blue pictured and I also bought the black. I’m a 12 on bottom now, and I had to buy the 8 (THRILLED, ha!) The material was super stretchy and it was gaping at the back so I felt the 8 just, eh, ahem… “contained” everything a bit better. The black on the other hand was a much stiffer fabric and way less stretchy. I had bought the 8 in the black too without trying them on in the shop, presuming that they’d be the same! At first I was disappointed as it was a REAL struggle to get them on, I can’t breathe in them, I tie my laces with great difficulty but omg, once they’re on, they are so slimming. I was in my Mams, took my coat off and my Aunt says “when did you get skinny again?’ hahaha Thanks Laura :-) Keeping me grounded. I’d actually love the blue to be a bit of a stiffer material too - mad, never thought I’d like that but it really does just suck it all in. My sis just bought both pairs now too, ya can have nothin’ to yerself!

For reference I’m 5 foot 3 and they graze my ankles, so not really cropped on me, which is what I wanted.

I’m now for the first time in years, on the hunt for all the cute little tops that I used to buy, that will be the next post - I’ll share what I found but in the meantime, I’ve posted some inspirational blue jean attire below too, so I hope you enjoy the gawk and it might inspire you to root out that Gypsy top from 2005 that you have shoved somewhere :-)

I’ve linked them below and it’s not an affiliate link!

Have a great week!
